Leland Purple Earrings
Available on consignment at Syncronicity Gallery in Glen Arbor, MI
If you have ever visited Leland you may have notice a blue stone along the shoreline. In the late 1800's Leland was an industrial town with one of the main industries being Leland Lake Superior Iron Company. When smelting eventually failed what remained was a multitude of slag that had been dumped into the harbor. Slag is a byproduct of smelting, ore was melted and separated from natural impurities. It is blue glass and a mix of other minerals, these other minerals can also cause it to appear gray, PURPLE, or a shade of green. Enjoy the history of this Michigan repurposed material when wearing these earrings. They tell a story of where we came from and where we are today.
This visionary earring style moves gracefully with each step due to the hinge design and the loose ear hook. This colorful statement earring will quickly become a part of your everyday routine.
